Post-Secondary Education

Docter Optics offers secondary school leavers educational opportunities that consist of an ideal combination of classroom theory and hands-on practice in cooperation with post-secondary educational institutions in Gera, Eisenach and Jena. The following courses of study are available:

• Bachelor of Arts (BA) in business administration/industry
• Bachelor of Engineering (BA) in engineering/production technology
• Bachelor of Engineering (FH) in laser and optical technology

Dual programs involve intensive academic and practical training spread over a period of three years and start in October of each year. Our students alternate between full-time study and work experience with Docter Optics every 12 weeks. In order to absorb and apply their theoretical knowledge, they acquire hands-on experience within the company and complete projects on selected problems and topics.

The program ends with the submission of a bachelor’s thesis. In collaboration with a representative from the post-secondary educational institution, we work together with the student to select a topic involving improvement of business or productions processes and then provide technical support as work on the thesis progresses.

Qualifications:

• eneral certificate of secondary education or equivalent
