PHOTOVOLTAICS/ SOLAR TECHNOLOGY

The use of photovoltaic technology to produce electricity is an idea with a promising future. When it comes to the development of solar systems for regions with sufficient sun, the goal is to achieve maximum efficiency with minimum area. Systems based on the use of optical concentrators have opened up an entirely new market for this industry. This technology involves the use of optical components to bundle and homogenize or, as the case may be, fractionate the rays of the sun. These systems can be up to 40% more efficient that conventional photovoltaic systems. Docter Optics designs and produces molds for the large-scale production of custom-designed secondary concentrators and other optical components for leading players in this new market. The advantage of these components is that they consist entirely of special heat-resistant glass with outstanding optical characteristics that are not subject to wear and last virtually indefinitely.
