Top Performance with Glass and Polymer:
AUTOMOTIVE SOLUTIONS

The engineering and design of projection headlights are all important when it comes to the choice of materials for projection lenses and head lenses. With its unique DOC3D®, DOCFast® and DOCLight® technologies, Docter Optics is able to propose the ideal solution for virtually any needs.

Docter Optics supplies all of the world’s well-known headlight manufacturers with custom-designed aspheres, free-form lenses and lens arrays. Many of these headlight lenses also incorporate special features such as, for example, overhead signlight functionality or color reduction at the light-dark cutoff line, or come with IR, effect or other functional coatings as a function of customer requirements.

Docter Optics can produce automotive lenses to any desired specifications in compliance with either EU (ECE) or North American (SAE) standards.

DOC3D® permits economical large-scale production of optical components, including lenses with complex surface geometries, to give designers virtually unlimited freedom, which means they can combine a unique brand identity and high optical performance in the same lens regardless of whether they opt for a halogen, xenon or LED light source.

DOCFast® is a new process that makes it possible to mold smaller optical components with complex surface geometries (e.g., lens arrays, free-form lenses, concentrators and light pipes) in large numbers from glass as it leaves the furnace.

DOCLight® is a process based on proven technology that permits production of thick-walled polymer lenses (PC and PMMA) for sophisticated applications with acceptable cycle times.

Doctan® is a special glass that was developed by Docter Optics to withstand the conditions to which automobile headlights are subjected. Together with DOC3D® precision-molding technology and wide range of complementary services offered by Docter Optics, this glass has enabled the company to stake out a position of world leadership and become the international market leader in the production of projection lenses.
